Mediocrity – The Waste of Fear and Absent Vision

Mediocrity is comfortable. It demands nothing of us other than the extinguishing of our passion and the holistic sacrifice of our dreams. Despite its colossally elevated cost, many of us embrace mediocrity and live our lives out in its forever wasteland. It may be that the greatest impetus of mediocrity is fear. We fear we will fail. We fear … [Read more...]

Magnificent Living – Taking Things for Granted

It seems that we have this distastefuland rather corroding tendency to take things for granted. It’s a sorry and perpetually debilitating reality that the more we have of something, the more we just assume that ‘it is.’ Things unfairly drop off of our radar simply because of the persistence of their existence in our lives. And in the oddity of … [Read more...]

Loving Our Enemies – Seeing Ourselves in Our Response

It may be that our actions say more about us than just about anything else that we do. Our actions decisively reveal many things about us that are otherwise hidden behind a thin façade of congeniality, the silken veil of social courtesies, and other appropriate behaviors that lend us an air of refinement and chivalry. Yet, we rarely look at our … [Read more...]

Loving Our Enemies – More Than a Nice Idea

Love your enemies. That’s a very tall order. In fact it can be such a tall order that we feel it to be out of our reach altogether. Not only is it a tall order, at times it seems irrational, excessively pacifistic, and a decision made by weak people too sheepish to stand up when they should stand up. Loving our enemies is tough indeed. Yet, … [Read more...]

Love – What Is It ?

What is love? Some questions are those mystically timeless questions that leave us breathless in our pursuit of them. Once we’ve pursued such questions they become ever more compelling because they have withheld their answers from us. Such is this wondrous, yet vexing question about love. Yet, to wholly embrace this most wonderful yet … [Read more...]

Love – A World Without It

Most times we really don’t appreciate something until we don’t have it. We have this onerous proclivity to miss the value of things because we have them. In having things we begin to take them for granted because of their frequency and consistency in our lives. They ‘are’ just because they ‘are.’ And anything special or unique or valuable is often … [Read more...]

Loneliness – Communication that Starves Relationships

I'm not certain that we really know what communication is simply because we tend to see so little of it. Sure, we convey information. We bullet-point points, we post on walls, we pin, we text, we instant message, we send memos, and we do a host of other things and we do a lot of it. But do we communicate? Communication is the deep communion of … [Read more...]

Loneliness – Agendas That Starve Relationships

Submerged somewhere deep within us are a host of potent agendas; some latent and others quite obvious. We believe that we’re driven far more by other things that are much nobler and chivalrous. Yet in reality we’re chockfull of a bunch of agendas that both dominate and direct a bunch of what we do. We would be wisely astute to understand that those … [Read more...]

Lion and the Sheep – Understanding Who You Are

Too often we take on the characteristics of our environment at the loss of whoever it is that we are. And sometimes we do that to the point that we become more of the environment than anything else. When that happens, and it happens far too frequently, we lose an authentic sense of self that is perpetually harder to reclaim. The cost of such a loss … [Read more...]

Liberty – It’s Not Something that Just Is

Do we ever stop to think how many things that we blithely take for granted? But far more than that, do we ever stop to think how things we take for granted that are absolutely vital to our existence? It seems that we have this diminishing and rather ignorant proclivity to do exactly that with far too many things that are in reality priceless beyond … [Read more...]

When is Counseling Needed?

Life comes with unanticipated twists and turns that can leave us confused, hurt, and frequently disoriented. Professional counseling can help with finding ways to deal with these issues.

If you or someone you know are experiencing depression, apathy, anger, conflicts, stress or other issues, a counselor may be able to help.
