Sadly, liberty seems to be one of those things. We assume liberty as a ‘right’ rather than a hard-won ‘privilege.’ We view liberty as something ‘owed’ to us as some sort of entitlement, verses being a precious ‘gift’ handed to us at a cost beyond our comprehension. And so if we are to truly understand what liberty is, and if we are to authentically embrace it maybe we need to step back, brazenly eliminate our selfish sense of entitlement and right, and ask “what is liberty?”
