Fight or Flight – Our Contradictory Nature in Crisis

We fight or we flee. Sometimes it’s one, and sometimes it’s the other. At times we can explain the choice that we made, and at other times we have no idea at all why we made whatever choice we made. We can stand tall and fight and be entirely uncertain why we’re doing that at all. Or we can be running away in a blind panic and not be certain why we’re doing that either.

It would seem that we should be a whole lot more thoughtful about life. At the same time we should be a whole lot braver. I would like to think that we can rise above our sorely primitive and primal reactions so that we might be more intentional about the way we engage life when life engages us.
