Historical Revisionist – Our Fear of Truth

We rather like the truth if it serves our purpose and supports our agendas. However, if the truth does neither of these, we find ourselves a bit annoyed, somewhat exasperated, and often determining how we can bend the truth sufficiently to make it less intrusive and far less problematic. And that often involves a bit of creative revisionism. The … [Read more...]

Self-Esteem – The Four Big Lies

Self-esteem is something few of possess in sufficient quantities. To whatever degree it might be, somehow most of us are a bit short in the self-esteem department. And when our self-esteem isn’t up to par, we know it and we know it well. And because we know it so well, we strategize how we can boost it, supplement it, inflate it or prop it … [Read more...]

Have We Forgotten – Lulled to Sleep

Much of our life is sleepwalking. We simply go through the motions without any real thought that all we’re doing is going through the motions. We pre-program our lives to a methodical cadence that pounds out a mesmerizing rhythm to which we march. Happiness – Three Do’s and Three Don’ts

Happiness seems to be that infuriatingly elusive yet intensely desired thing that we’re all chasing in some form or fashion. The apparent reason that we’re in this rampant pursuit of happiness is that we don’t have it very often, and when we do, we don’t have it for all that long. This thing called happiness is elusive indeed. Maybe when it … [Read more...]

Shep – To Run with a Limp

We all walk with a limp. Every one of us. Our limps vary dramatically, from the obvious physical limps to the more emotional ones. Most of us are ashamed of our limps and we therefore work vigorously to hide them. And when they are so utterly obvious that we can’t hide them, we often run from them even though such an action is obviously … [Read more...]

Griping and Complaining

It is our natural tendencies that too often run unchecked and unquestioned. One of those is our tendency to gripe and complain. Such an orientation is birthed of a negative life perspective that generates a toxic negativity as a first response. It can likewise be a product of entitlement or a sense of being owed where anything but consistent good … [Read more...]

Grief and Loss

When we experience grief and loss, all we see is grief and loss. Our hearts are smeared thick with searing grief and our eyes are rendered blind by a loss that we’re struggling to embrace as real. Our worlds teeter and our lives wrestle with the massive holes of things torn away. We wrestle with an existence now altered beyond hope of restoration … [Read more...]

Inspirational Quotes

We vigorously proclaim the audacious arrogance of any God who would dare to claim that only He can save us. And yet, our own arrogance will grant itself the fullest permission to make the exact same claim.

When is Counseling Needed?
