Shep – To Run with a Limp

We all walk with a limp. Every one of us. Our limps vary dramatically, from the obvious physical limps to the more emotional ones. Most of us are ashamed of our limps and we therefore work vigorously to hide them. And when they are so utterly obvious that we can’t hide them, we often run from them even though such an action is obviously … [Read more...]

Being Thankful – A Forgotten Art

Being thankful stands in stark and debilitating contrast to entitlement. If we sense that we are entitled to something, it is then presumed to be ours by right. If it is ours by right, then there is no legitimate need to be thankful for it. Our overriding mentality and our general orientation to life becomes marked by a sense that we are owed, and … [Read more...]

Self-Image – What’s Yours?

We all have a view of ourselves that’s pretty well defined and often not all that flattering. And we seem to spend a good deal of our lives shaping and trimming and honing and adjusting that self-image to enhance its appeal to others and to ourselves. Yet, such enhancements, despite the rigorous nature of them, never seem quite sufficient. This … [Read more...]

Seasons – The Come and Go of Life

In the come and go of life we’re more apt to embrace what’s coming than to release what’s going. There is something in the accumulation of things that enhances our sense of security and stability as we ever further immerse ourselves in the soothing wrap of them. Conversely, releasing things sometimes has a stripping sensation where we’re becoming … [Read more...]

Betrayal

Betrayal is the horrific antithesis to commitment. It is everything that a relationship is not. Betrayal is an action so contrary to the essential ingredients of trust and love that firmly undergird a relationship that we are abhorrently stunned when it happens to us. Yet, it does happen to us, and it happens more than once. To heal from the … [Read more...]

Releasing Your Grip – Possessing Life is Letting Life Possess You

We hold on and we hold on hard. We hold on to a whole bunch of things. And what we choose to hold onto is based on whether we deem those things to be of sufficient value or not. Then, the intensity of our grip on each of these individual things is determined by the degree of value they each have to us. Because we value so many things and because we … [Read more...]

Reality – The Extent of Your Reach

It seems that our singularly reality is sorely limited. The reach of our reality rarely goes beyond the reach of our experience. And such limitations are hugely limiting. Yet, despites its limitations we see our singularly reality as being limitless, or nearly so. And because we do, we have terrible difficulty believing that anything else exists … [Read more...]

Inspirational Quotes

We vigorously proclaim the audacious arrogance of any God who would dare to claim that only He can save us. And yet, our own arrogance will grant itself the fullest permission to make the exact same claim.

When is Counseling Needed?

Life comes with unanticipated twists and turns that can leave us confused, hurt, and frequently disoriented. Professional counseling can help with finding ways to deal with these issues.

If you or someone you know are experiencing depression, apathy, anger, conflicts, stress or other issues, a counselor may be able to help.
